Eating patterns as child, what does it say about your health today?

November 3, 2017

I can't stress how important this topic is to me. At an early age children develop their eating habits that are the foundation of their health in their adult life.

Eating meals and snacks are just as important, as physical exercise on a daily basis. So many times, busy life is the cause of many health issues, that later become "Dis-Ease". Many people will say children will eat when they're hungry and yes they will. But waiting until they tell you, is the equivalent, of an adult waiting the whole day to eat. In TRUTH they had coffee and Pastry hours later, they are starving, agitated, and will reach for anything to normalize their sugar. The result, leads to eating a huge meal quickly, instead of eating a balanced meal. After the meal, you wonder why I am bloated or why do I have indigestion, not mention feel sleepy. These are the eating patterns you take from childhood, as a child you want run and play all day, until you are absolutely hungry. Children develop good regular healthy eating patterns from their childhood. Many parents will say He or She is not hungry, but it's developing a pattern with them even if it 2 bites, letting them know it's time to eat. Regular eating habits builds a healthy lifestyle that in turn, will help them through many of their daily task as adults. As adolescents or adults they will gain time management skills, because it is important to them to make time for eating (most people who skip meals, will often say its because I didn't have time, but realistically it wasn't as important to them other things on their plate). As a kid or adult eating regularly will give you better cognitive function because you are fueling the brain, hence enabling sound decisions making skills. Eating regularly makes you more capable to handle whatever stressors are in your environment because eating regularly maintains healthy blood sugar, avoiding highs and lows in your day. In short, eating regularly makes you a mindful, more empathic, and intelligent human being. Please think twice when skipping meals or snack or letting your children get a pass free card, when they say to you that they are not hungry, what mark are you leaving in their adult health!
